Frequently Asked Questions

What type of service do you provide?

As a psychiatrist, I am a medical doctor (MD) who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. I provide medication management, which includes prescribing and monitoring the effectiveness of psychiatric medications, adjusting doses, and managing potential side effects. I typically see patients for an hour at the first appointment then once a month for 30-minute follow-up appointments.

Where do you see patients?

I offer both in-person and telehealth appointments, depending on the patient’s preference and clinical presentation.

Telehealth appointments are conducted via Google Meet video calls, while in-office appointments are in Westport, CT.

Because medical licensing is state-specific, I can only see patients who are physically located in Connecticut, even for telehealth visits.

What do you mean by in-network and out-of-network?

In-network means that I have signed a contract with that insurance company and have agreed to accept payments directly from them. The insurance companies I am currently in-network with are Husky, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna and Cigna. If you are insured through one of those companies, I will bill your insurance directly, and you will only be responsible for your copay, co-insurance, or the full amount approved by your insurance if you have a deductible that has not been met.

Out-of-network means that I am not contracted/credentialed with that company and therefore cannot predict if or how much they would pay for my services. If you are insured through Anthem BCBS or any commercial insurance not listed above, I ask that you to pay me directly (typically via credit card) prior to your visit. If your plan covers out-of-network services, I will provide you with a “superbill” to submit with your claim to request reimbursement from your insurance provider.

Can I contact you between appointments?

I encourage patients to contact me between appointments for issues that should not wait until the next appointment such as worsening symptoms, adverse reactions to medications, or difficulty filling a prescription. My patients contact me directly and do not need to go through anyone else to reach me. However, this does not mean that I will be available to respond immediately. I do not provide any crisis or emergency services.
If you have a question or need help refilling your medication between appointments, I will try my best to respond within 2 business days. If the issue requires a more detailed discussion, an appointment may be required to better assist you.
